The Body Project
4-Part Series for Adolescents and Young Women
The Body Project is a body image and body acceptance program for adolescents and young women.
This evidence-based program meets for one hour weekly for 4-weeks. The typical group size is 8-12 young women.
The Body Project is a dissonance-based body-acceptance program designed to help high school girls and college-age women resist cultural pressures to conform to the appearance ideal standards of female beauty and reduce their pursuit of unrealistic bodies. The Body Project is supported by more research than any other body image program and has been found to reduce the onset of eating disorders.
Bodies and Beauty: Exploring the Standards and Ideals
4-Part Series for Adult Women
Kortney’s own adapted program of “Body Project” for adult women. This group meets for one hour weekly for 4-weeks. The typical group size is 8 to 12 women.
“Bodies and Beauty” is a dissonance-based body-acceptance program designed to help adult women examine their internalized core beliefs around bodies, appearance, and beauty. Through group discussion, written exercises and activities, and even brief take-home challenges, this program is designed to empower women to resist cultural pressures to conform to the appearance ideal standards of female beauty and reduce their pursuit of unhealthy or obsessive means to attain unrealistic bodies. “Bodies and Beauty” is adapted from a body image program, the “Body Project”, that has been supported by more research than any other body image program and has been found to reduce the onset of eating disorders. “Bodies and Beauty” has been designed to create lasting and deep shifts in self-perception and self-image.
Bodies and Beauty Workshop Intensive
1/2 Day Workshop for All Women
For interested groups who are short on time, this consolidated 4-hour workshop distills the lesson, exercises, and concepts covered in the full 4-week program into a half-day event. This group workshop is ideal for adult women and is also effective for adolescents and college-aged women who experience body dissatisfaction. The “Bodies and Beauty Workshop” has been carefully designed to promote positive self-perception and improved self-image.
Intuitively Fueling Strength Intensive
1/2 Day Workshop for All Women
This workshop is a 4-hour workshop designed to explore the interplay of mindfulness, hunger, fullness, and satisfaction factors while challenging food rules and restrictive dieting or “healthy eating” principles. This workshop includes written exercises, group discussion, and experiential eating practices. Appropriate for a variety of audiences, anyone who has ever found dieting to be a challenge or feels addicted to dieting will benefit from the food freedom developed through participation in this program.
